Feminist writer Gargallo: Leyla is on a glorious act of courage

Feminist writer Francesca Gargallo sent a solidarity message to Leyla Guven and said she is on “a glorious act of courage”.

Mexican-Italian feminist writer Francesca Gargallo sent a message of solidarity to Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-chair and Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Hakkari MP Leyla Guven, who has been on a hunger strike for 92 days demanding an end to the isolation imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan.

“YOU REMIND US THAT ONE MUST OBJECT”

Gargallo said the following in her message:

“Leyla, your life is important for feminists. Because you remind us that we must put our bodies on the line if we want to object to patriarchy, just like standing against torture, isolation in prison and the rejection of one’s right to live in peace. Risking your life in a hunger strike to achieve freedom for a prisoner who has become a hope for the people is a gloruious act of courage.”
