DEM Party and TJA delegation met with a group of politicians and activist women in Hewlêr. The meeting highlighted that: “There is a big war going on in Kurdistan. We have responsibilities as people and women.”

The delegation of the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) and the Free Women's Movement (TJA) continues its talks in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq). The delegation, including DEM Party Şırnak MPs Nevroz Uysal Aslan and Gülcan Kaçmaz and former MP Ayşe Acar Başaran, met with a group of politicians and activists in Hewlêr (Erbil) to discuss the isolation of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the invasion attacks against the region.

Parêz Omer, PUK’s candidate for Hewlêr in the parliamentary elections expected to take place in Kurdistan Region on 20 October, also took part in the meeting. Parêz Omer said: “We are happy to welcome the delegation of female politicians and activists. The meeting was both friendly and national as well as a unique meeting of women."

Parêz Omer said: “Wherever we are, our nation is one. On this basis, we want to work more in partnership to solve the problems of women, our nation and our country. Our main goal is to open a new door in order to enable Kurdistan’s women to come together more.”

DEM Party MP Nevroz Uysal Aslan said the following about the meeting: “As women, we face great oppression and hardship in Kurdistan, the Middle East and around the world. In addition to being women, we Kurdish women see oppression policies applied to us differently. There are different oppression policies applied in each part of Kurdistan. In Iran, Pakshan Azizi is in danger of being executed. There is a big war going on in Kurdistan today. We have responsibilities as people and women. The unity, support and awareness of women will have a deep meaning in building our national reality because women are the basis and pioneers of society.”

The isolation of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the international campaign for his freedom were also discussed during the meeting.
