Arab and Yazidi woman celebrate March 8 in Shengal

Arab and Yazidi women celebrate the International Women’s Day in Shengal.

Arab women in the Yazidi town of Shengal (Sinjar) in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq) joined the celebration to mark March 8, International Women’s Day.

The celebration was organised by the Free Yazidi Women’s Movement (TAJÊ) in the village of Hesawik on Sunday. Yazidi women also attended the celebration which began with a speech by TAJÊ member Mehra Şengal.

Mehra Şengal wished a happy March 8 to all women, stressing that the path of women passes through unity and solidarity.
