23 women murdered in Eastern Kurdistan and Iran in August

23 women were murdered in Eastern Kurdistan and Iran during August, when, on the other hand, 11 women, 6 of them Kurdish, were sentenced to imprisonment.

The Eastern Kurdistan Human Rights Organisation published a report on violations of women's rights in Iran and East Kurdistan during the month of August.

The report stated that at least 10 women activists were detained in August and 11 women, 6 of them Kurdish, were sentenced to a total of 40 years, 5 months and 22 days in prison.

According to the report, 12 of 23 women from different cities of Iran and Eastern Kurdistan were murdered by their husbands, 2 by their fathers, 2 by their sons and 6 by people they did not know.
