While the Turkish state’s dream to get Afrin in three hours together with jihadist groups derived from Al-Qaeda has extended to days and weeks, the historic Resistance of the Age in Afrin has left 28 days behind.

YPG/YPJ fighters in Afrin’s Jindires district, where attacks are most intense in recent days, state that the Turkish state is trying to achieve a result through warplanes and technical superiority and that Turkish forces cannot engage in hand-to-hand fighting with YPG/YPJ forces.

YPG/YPJ fighters on the frontlines in villages in Afrin’s Jindires district spoke to the ANF about the latest situation in Afrin battle.

To start with, YPJ fighter Kurdistan Amara condemned the international conspiracy against Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan and pointed out that the conspirators continue the plot of 15 February 1999 with attacks against Afrin today.

Regarding the battle in Afrin, Amara told that; “The Turkish state is trying to achieve a result through its technical superiority, warplanes, tanks, artillery and heavy weaponry and they are yet to dare to engage in hand-to-hand fighting with us. They are attacking for 28 days but cannot make any advance despite all kinds of technique.”

Pointing out the historic resistance in Afrin, Amara said; “Our comrades are falling as martyrs but fighters of the YPG/YPJ and SDF and the people of Afrin are mounting a historic resistance, giving a great response to the Turkish state. Erdogan should know that we will make not only Afrin but entire Kurdistan unbearable for him. Erdogan and his gangs were defeated in Kobane and they will face an even bigger defeat in Afrin.”

YPG fighter Aslan Elî told the following concerning the latest situation in Afrin; “We are defending Jindires against the attacks of the Turkish state. Erdogan said he would get Afrin in three hours but we are on the 28th day today. They have yet to make a remarkable progress. Erdogan should rather give a hand-to-hand fighting against us if he is that brave. We are in good morale, we are resisting and it will continue like this. We will never leave Afrin to Erdogan and his gangs.”

YPG Commander Gelhat Kobane also spoke and stated that the fighters and people of Afrin are resisting in small units against tanks, artillery and warplanes of the Turkish state. He continued; “Jindires is a small district and it is being bombed ceaselessly for four weeks now. We continue defending our people. There is a truly great resistance mounted here. They could not fight us on land yet. They are attacking with warplanes and they want to achieve a result in this way. Their failure to advance on land bolsters the morale of our people and fighters. We are going to win with this morale.”
