SDF fighter injured in ISIS attack in Deir ez-Zor dies

Following the ISIS attack on a military post of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) near Deir ez-Zor, the number of fighters killed has risen to four.
ISIS carried out a suicide attack with a Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED), targeting a military post of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the town of Al-Shahil, Deir ez-Zor's eastern countryside on 10 May 2024. The attack claimed the lives of 3 SDF fighters and left seven others wounded.
The SDF Press Centre announced in a statement on Monday that one of its wounded fighters, Mazlûm Qamişlo (Basil Lorans El Hiso), died as a result of his injuries on 18 May.
SDF expressed their "deep sorrow" over the loss of the fighter and expressed their condolences to his family and the people of North and East Syria. The SDF also vowed "revenge" for the attack.
"Our forces neutralised the gang leader and the one responsible for the terrorist attack. Our operations will continue until our region is free of terrorism," the statement said.
