Newroz celebrations in Kobanê and Ain Issa

Celebrations continue on the occasion of Kurdish New Year, Newroz, in North-East Syria, Kurdistan and abroad.

Newroz was celebrated with enthusiasm in the cities of Kobanê and Ain Issa in Northern and Eastern Syria.

The people of Ain Issa district and hundreds of IDPs from occupied Girê Spî gathered at the Free Women's Park in the district centre for the Newroz celebration.  

The celebration was attended by opinion leaders of the community and tribes and representatives of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DAANES).

Heza Mihemed, Deputy Co-Chair of Girê Spî Assembly, emphasised the great struggle and sacrifices made for the Democratic Autonomous Administration project. It was noted that the attacks targeting this project would be frustrated by the resistance of the people.

Democratic Union Party (PYD) Girê Spî Assembly Co-Chair Bêrîvan Îsmaîl stated that the best way to ensure freedom, justice and democracy is the ideas of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Many bands, including Koma Dayikan, Koma Zemara and Baqî Xido Centre of Euphrates Canton took the stage during the celebration.

Kobanê


As in other cities, the celebration in Kobanê was organised with the slogan "Freedom for Leader Öcalan and political solution to the Kurdish question".

Newroz fires were lit in Sirîn district and Kobanê University on Tuesday.

Hundreds of people attended the celebration in Sirîn district. Speaking at the celebration at Sirîn Culture and Art Centre, District Council Co-Chair Şebo Ebdirezaq said, "We celebrate the Newroz of all peoples in the region."

The Newroz fire was lit at Kobanê University with the participation of students and faculty members. Kobanê University Co-President Şervan Mislim congratulated the people, Abdullah Öcalan, the guerrilla and all fighters on the war front on Newroz.

Mislim said, "Let's ensure the physical freedom of Leader Öcalan this Newroz, when a new step will be taken. Let us celebrate Newroz in the spirit of democratic nation."
