Delegation of the CoE Congress of Local and Regional Authorities visits DEM Party

The EU delegation discussed the implementation of the European Charter of Local Self-Government in Turkey.

A delegation of the Council of Europe Congress of Local Authorities visited the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) on Monday.

The delegation, including Congress President Marc Cools and Co-Rapporteur Bryony Rudkin, discussed the implementation of the European Charter of Local Self-Government in Turkey.

The DEM Party delegation consisting of Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları, Co-Spokesperson of the Democratic Local Administration Council Canan Kebenç Özkan, Bitlis MP Hüseyin Olan, and Member of the Foreign Relations Commission Evren Çevik provided information about the DEM Party's experience in local administration, the pressures on local administrations, and the trustee policies.

The EU delegation, on the other hand, provided comprehensive information on the implementation of autonomy.

Regional developments were also discussed during the meeting, and the importance of democratization was emphasized.
