2 ISIS members linked to the mercenaries in Serêkaniyê captured in Shaddadi

Internal Security Forces detained 2 people in an operation against ISIS cells in Shaddadi district of Hesekê. The mercenaries confessed that they were linked to the Turkish-backed gangs in Serêkaniyê and that they committed many crimes.

ANTI-ISIS OPERATIONS IN NORTH-EAST SYRIA

According to a statement on the official website of the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria, the General Security Directorate conducted an operation against a cell of the ISIS terrorist organisation in the town of Shaddadi on March 24, 2024.  

According to the statement, fighting broke out after the response of the mercenaries during the operation, and 2 ISIS members were detained.

During the operation, 1 Bruno rifle and 54 bullets, 3 military vests, 3 47 AK brand guns and 18 magazines, 3 pistols and 5 magazines, 320 US dollars and 1 million 167 thousand 500 Syrian liras were confiscated.

The statement said that the detained mercenaries were in contact with those in the Turkish-occupied city of Sêrekaniye. Accordingly, the captured mercenaries confessed to targeting security institutions and committing many crimes such as theft, threats and intimidation. The detained mercenaries were referred to the judicial authorities for further procedures.
