The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Commander-in-Chief, General Mazloum Abdi, in coordination with the Commander of the International Coalition Forces, held an expanded meeting in the city of Raqqa. The meeting on Friday was attended by several military leaders from SDF forces, the General Command of the Internal Security Forces in northern and eastern Syria, and a large delegation of sheikhs and dignitaries from the cities of Raqqa and Tabqa.
The discussions focused on developments in Syria as a whole, with particular attention to the situation in northern and eastern Syria.
The meeting commenced with a speech by the SDF Commander-in-Chief, who first extended his congratulations to the attendees on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan. He then provided a comprehensive political analysis of the ongoing developments in Syria and explored possible solutions to the crises the country is facing during this critical and challenging period.
General Abdi emphasized that the Syrian crisis can only be resolved through Syrian-Syrian dialogue. He stated that an agreement had been reached with Damascus to rule out a military solution to outstanding issues and announced plans to form a regional delegation, inclusive of all local communities, to engage in dialogue with Damascus regarding the future of both the region and the Syrian state.
Abdi also affirmed that the Syrian Democratic Forces are open to integrating the institutions of the Autonomous Administration into the Syrian state structure, but only based on the principle of mutual agreement and following the initiation of dialogue with Damascus.
Regarding northern and eastern Syria, General Abdi announced the imminent launch of a series of administrative and economic reforms aimed at improving the well-being of the local population. He also refuted claims that remnants of the former regime were present in the region.
Concluding his speech, General Abdi stated, “On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, we will work towards issuing an amnesty for common law prisoners.”
In turn, the Commander of the International Coalition Forces reaffirmed their commitment to supporting peaceful solutions and emphasized the importance of resolving disputes among all Syrian parties through dialogue. He also reiterated the Coalition’s support for security and stability in the region.
Following the speeches, attendees shared their perspectives, underscoring the necessity of dialogue in addressing all issues and reiterating their commitment to combating the remnants of ISIS while fostering stability and security in the region.
