Kurdish intellectuals establish joint committee

Kurdish intellectual unions decided to stand with the SDF and form a joint committee of writers and intellectuals in Western Kurdistan.

The Union of Intellectuals of Western Kurdistan (HRRK), the Union of Intellectuals of Cizîr Canton (YRHC), the Syrian Kurdish Writers Union (YNKS), the General Union of Syrian Kurdish Writers and Journalists (YNRKS), and the Syrian Kurdistan Writers Union held a gathering at Zana Hall in Qamishlo under the name 'Western Kurdistan Kurdish Writers and Intellectuals Committee.'

The intellectuals' gathering, which addressed three main topics, concluded with Qadir Egîd, a representative of the Syrian Kurdish Writers Union, reading the final declaration.

Decisions Included in the Final Declaration:

1. Since intellectuals represent the collective conscience of the Kurdish people in Western Kurdistan (Rojavayê Kurdistan) and all parts of Kurdistan, they must fulfill both their national role and their responsibilities as intellectuals.

2. All causes of contradictions within Kurdish society, as well as all forms of hate, violence, and expressions of hatred within Kurdish and Syrian society, must be avoided to maintain general peace.

3. Efforts to unify Kurdish discourse and stance among the parties of the Kurdish political movement should be supported to establish a Kurdish public opinion that represents the legitimate demands of the Kurdish people in Western Kurdistan and Syria.

4. Support should be provided to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in response to the attacks by Turkey and its gang groups targeting Western Kurdistan and the Northern and Eastern Syria region.

5. Women must be fairly represented and actively participate in all political, cultural, social, and economic institutions based on skills and professional standards.

6. Young people must be actively involved in all cultural activities.

7. A suitable ecological environment must be ensured for organizing joint cultural events.

8. A committee composed of Kurdish intellectuals and writers must be established to play an active role in all domestic and international events and gatherings.
