Number of refugees from Deir ez-Zor exceeds 15 thousand

More than 15 thousand civilians from Deir ez-Zor have taken shelter in refugee camps recently.

The influx of refugees, who flee from the atrocity of ISIS gangs and Ba’ath regime and take shelter in the areas under Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) control, continues. During the past two days, 400 families from Al-Bukemal city have reached the Deir ez-Zor camp in Abu Khashab.

The increase in the number of refugees and lack of resources of Deir ez-Zor Civilian Council and camp administration results in large numbers of refugees facing a shelter and food problem.

According to data provided by Deir ez-Zor Civilian Council and camp administration, over 15 thousand refugees are staying in the Cezra, Al-Bohemîd and Al-Kasrat camps.

Despite the remarkable increase in the number of refugees, most of whom are children and elderly, humanitarian aid organizations maintain their indifference to this situation. The refugees are surrounded by a lack of food and warming conditions in the first place.

Mihemed El-Selman who migrated from Al-Bukemal city called for support from aid agencies to meet their tent and winter needs.

Another refugee from an eastern village of Deir ez-Zor told that; “The winter is leaving our children and family amid challenging circumstances. No aid organization has provided any support so far.”
