Newroz has been celebrated by tens of thousands of people in Frankfurt.
The celebration started in the morning with a double march dedicated to Uğur Şakar who set himself on fire on February 20 in the city of Krefeld and died on Friday.
The Newroz celebration began with the Kurdish anthem Ey Raqip. The hunger strike resistance was commended by all speakers, who included Kawa representatives Nazli Emektar, Emin Deniz, Die Linke representative and KCDK-E co-chair Fatoş Göksungur.
Göksungur underlined the isolation of the Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, the resistance of the hunger strike and the silence of the European countries.
“This year’s Newroz - said Göksungur - is dedicated to the hunger strike resistance and to the martyrs who ended their life to protest isolation.”
Göksungur stressed that they will take action everywhere until isolation is broken, "We have to raise the struggle for the memory of our friends who sacrificed their life. We celebrate Newroz today, the day in which the SDF announced the defeat of ISIS. Rojava lands are now free from barbaric ISIS mercenaries."
The KCDK-E co-chair said that the Kurdish people will give their answer to the AKP on the 31 March local elections. “The people of Kurdistan will express their will on 31 March together with the resistance.”
