DAANES: International silence encourages the Turkish state to commit more crimes against our people

The Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria called for urgent action to stop the Turkish state’s crimes and attacks in the region.

The Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DAANES) issued a written statement denouncing the massacre of civilians by the occupying Turkish state at Tishrin Dam earlier today.

DAANES noted that the Turkish state has once again targeted the people who gathered at Tishrin Dam to support their children in response to the attacks by the occupying Turkish state and allied mercenaries against Qereqozax Bridge and Tishrin Dam. The attack, it said, was directed against civilians, killing 4 and injuring 15 others.

“With this attack, another war crime has been added to the list of crimes committed by the occupying Turkish state, emboldened by the silence of international powers, human rights organizations and the United Nations. This silence paves the way for the occupying Turkish state to commit more crimes against our people and safe areas,” the statement said.

DAANES stressed that these crimes are a violation of international law, undermine efforts to stabilize Syria and aim to create space for the resurgence of terror and violence.

The Autonomous Administration called on the international community and the world, Syrian and Kurdish public opinion to take urgent action and work to fulfill their responsibilities to stop these crimes and end the attacks on the people.

“We affirm our commitment to continue to defend the gains and rights of our people and we call on all components of our people to support and embrace our security and military forces. We have to have absolute faith in our resistance, which is the guarantee to frustrate all the plans of the enemy and achieve victory.”
