New book details Turkish plot to assassinate PKK leaders

The upcoming book by journalist Amed Dicle, titled “2005-2015 Turkey-PKK Talks: 'Resolution process operation' against the Kurdish question's resolution” offers a deep insight into the process that totally collapsed due to Turkey's anti-peace efforts.

The details of Turkish plot to assassinate PKK leaders after a meeting with international mediators in March 2009 are revealed in an upcoming book about the peace negotiations between the PKK and Turkish state.

According to the book by Kurdish journalist Amed Dicle, PKK leaders Murat Karayilan and Mustafa Karasu was targeted by Turkish fighter jets in March 2009. Both leaders survived the attack without injuries but some members of security guards were killed.

TURKISH ATTACK CAME RIGHT AFTER A MEETING WITH INTERNATIONAL MEDIATORS

Kurdish leaders met with an delegation of international mediators, who were all British citizens, a day before the attack. Kurdish delegation accepted a de facto ceasefire offer by the Turkish state in that meeting.

After the meeting Kurdish delegation gathered together to discuss about details of ceasefire and other issues. The next morning the area where the meeting was held was bombed intensely by Turkish fighter jets.

PKK LEADER’S BUNKER GOT A DIRECT HIT

Murat Karayilan escaped the bombing with 30 minutes and a bomb hit 200 meter close to where he was.

Another prominent leader of the PKK, Mustafa Karasu’s bunker got a direct hit. Karasu said that the bombing was so intense that he thought they will suffocate in the bunker.

The book discloses details of the security guards of PKK leaders that were killed in the bombing.

The book also details the role of Gelhat -Karayilan’s security guard at that time who helped Karayilan survive Turkish assassination attempt- in the fight against ISIS in Kobanê.

In the book , journalist Amed Dicle also points out events that shows the attack was planned in detail by the Turkish government; like Turkish president Abdullah Gül’s cancellation of a visit to Diyarbakir on the same day with the attack.

Turkey and PKK held secret talks between 2005-2015 to start a peace process. Despite the efforts by international mediators and Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan, Turkish state never accepted to formally start negotiations for peace.

The negotiations collapsed a few weeks before the general elections in Turkey in June 2015.
