Lawyers from Asrın Law Office file a new application to meet with their client Abdullah Öcalan

Lawyers from Asrın Law Office have filed a new application to meet with their client, Abdullah Öcalan.

Lawyers Rezan Sarıca, Raziye Öztürk, Faik Özgür Erol and Mazlum Dinç from Asrın Law Office have applied to the Bursa Republic Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and Imralı Penal Institution Directorate to meet with their client Abdullah Öcalan.

The lawyers have similarly applied for visits with their other clients in Imralı, Ömer Hayri Konar, Hamili Yıldırım and Veysi Aktaş.

Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan has been in solitary confinement since 1999, when he was abducted as a result on an international conspiracy. Applications for visits are either arbitrarily rejected, remain unanswered or unlawful and arbitrary justifications are presented for imposing disciplinary punishments months later. It is also unknown for what reason the disciplinary punishments were given.

The decision to ban Öcalan and other prisoners in Imralı from seeing a lawyer for the last 6 months was made by the Bursa Execution Judgeship on 3 May 2024. With this decision, Öcalan has been banned from seeing a lawyer for at least 13 times in the last 8 years.
