TAJÊ: We want to see Abdullah Öcalan

TAJÊ announced its participation in the global campaign “We want to see Abdullah Öcalan” and vowed to intensify the struggle for his physical freedom.

The Free Yazidi (Êzidî) Women’s Movement (TAJÊ) announced in a statement that it has joined the global campaign “We want to see Abdullah Öcalan.” During the statement delivered at the Leadership Garden, it was emphasized that Abdullah Öcalan’s physical freedom is inseparable from the freedom of Yazidi women.

TAJÊ spokesperson Riham Hico stated that the isolation imposed on Öcalan has not yet been broken and that the struggle will continue until he is freed. She said, “With this goal, TAJÊ has launched the campaign ‘Read and Spread the Works of Abdullah Öcalan,’ aimed at disseminating his thoughts and ideas. As Yazidi women, our demand is the lifting of Öcalan’s isolation and his full freedom. The physical freedom of Öcalan is the freedom of Yazidi women.”

In the statement, ' mothers of martyrs, Xoxê Cindî and Berfê Elyas, also gave speeches.

Xoxê Cindî emphasized that Yazidi women must first and foremost feel the presence of Abdullah Öcalan. She said, “As a community and as women who have survived massacres, we want to see Öcalan free. We must be able to meet with Öcalan and see his condition with our own eyes.”

Berfê Elyas said, “First of all, we send our greetings to Öcalan and wish for his freedom. Öcalan has done everything possible for peace and freedom. Our hope and desire is his freedom. If Öcalan is free, then we Yazidi women will be free as well. For years, we have educated ourselves and our children in the ideas of Öcalan and have protected our land. Our freedom is tied to the freedom of Öcalan, and we demand his release.”

Avesta Ezda, representing the Shengal Young Women’s Union, stated, “As the Shengal Young Women’s Union, we greet Abdullah Öcalan with love and respect. We recognize our place within the initiative launched by the TAJÊ. It is our duty to read and spread Öcalan’s ideas more widely. Only by expanding our organization in this way can we be worthy of him.

As young women, we must intensify our struggle for the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan. His freedom is the freedom of young women. Öcalan places great importance and value on women’s liberation, and he says, ‘The freedom of women is my own freedom.’ On this basis, we must embrace his ideas and strengthen our struggle to achieve his physical freedom.”
