FED MED: We will support Öcalan’s call with mass public events

Ahmed Kobane said that they will respond to Abdullah Öcalan’s latest call with public events across affiliated institutions in NRW, Germany.

In his statement, Ahmed Kobane said, “For 26 years, Abdullah Öcalan has been struggling from Imrali Prison to resolve the Kurdish question. He has made no concessions to anyone. Despite all forms of pressure, psychological torture, and isolation, he has insisted on a peaceful solution to the Kurdish question and has never taken a step back.”

Kobane added, “He has waged a great struggle, for the resolution of the Kurdish question, for the freedom of the Kurdish people, and for society. He has never voiced any demands for his own personal freedom. The Kurdish people have always fought for Abdullah Öcalan’s freedom. But Öcalan never demanded it, because he has always seen his own freedom as inseparable from the freedom of society.”

The statement continued as follows: “For the first time in 26 years, we are hearing Abdullah Öcalan’s voice. This is a moment of great joy for the Kurdish community. It also shows that the paradigm and solution proposal Mr. Öcalan put forward on 27 February has reached a certain stage. As FED MED, we will therefore embrace this process by organizing solidarity meetings, people’s assemblies, and public events together with all institutions affiliated with us in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), Germany, in close contact with our people. Expanding this process with social awareness and advancing it through organized and determined public support is a historic responsibility.”
