HDP's rising wave frightens fascists: Attacks all around

Fascists taking action with the lead of AKP-MHP and the police have attacked HDP offices in various cities and districts.

HDP has created hope against the AKP-MHP dictatorship and plays a critical role in the June 24 elections, and as such, the party's campaigning efforts are subjected to fascist attacks. As the government attempts to stop the HDP through the practice of combining and moving ballot boxes and political genocide, in several provinces AKP-MHP member racist and fascist groups attack HDP stands and offices and cut off party vehicles. The police only watch the attacks from afar, and in some places, they actively encourage the attacks. HDP members don't concede to the attacks and continue on with the campaign.

Fascist attacks during this week alone are as follows:

ANTEP

A group went to the HDP elections bureau in Antep and chanted slogans while holding Turkish flags, trying to provoke people.

A group carrying Turkish flags and MHP banners attempted to provoke MP Mahmut Togrul who was meeting with HDP members in the elections bureau opened in the 29 Ekim neighborhood in Antep's Sehitkamil district.

Night guards came to the area but said they had orders not to intervene, and held back. HDP administrators and MP Mahmut Togrul personally phoned and called Security Department Chief who arrived 2 hours later. Togrul remained in the bureau until police units arrived and spent that time speaking with party members, reminding them to aviod provocations. HDP members protested the MHP members with clapping and without engaging with the attackers at all. Togrul protested the Security Department Chief who said, "There is no need for tensions" when informed about the incident and said, "Well then tell that to those who created the tension!"

CEYLANPINAR

Police arbitrarily attacked HDP Co-chair Sezai Temelli's meeting with the people in Ceylanpinar, and detained 2 people.

The HDP committee were followed by armored vehicles from the border of the district as they arrived in Ceylanpinar, and all their vehicles were stopped and searched along the way. All who saluted the HDP election bus was recorded on film, and the police cancelled the event when the HDP bus arrived at the location despite the party having procured all necessary permits.

In Ceylanpinar, riot police, police carrying assault rifles, water cannons and armored vehicles stood watch around the grounds as HDP Co-chair Sezai Temelli gave his speech and attacked the crowd after he was done. Several people were detained in the attack.

The police later attacked the HDP election bureau on the road to Viransehir. The people protested the police attack with slogans.

ISTANBUL

HDP members were on their way to the Huseyinli village in Istanbul's Cekmekoy district when they were cut off by a man claiming he was the village chief.

The man had a gun and pointed it at the HDP members who wanted to go do their campaign.

Several others arrived at the location later and attacked the HDP members.

The gendarmerie took the HDP members to the Omerli Gendarmerie Outpost along with the fascist group.

BURSA

HDP members set up a stand as part of the election campaign in Bursa's Karacabey district and were attacked by a group chanting racist slogans. The police just watched the attack from afar while attackers tore photographs of presidential candidate Selahattin Demirtas and party banners and posters. The group chanted "Allahuaqbar" and various racist slogans as they carried out the attack.

Nobody from the attacking group were detained, but the police did take HDP member Ugur Sahin.

BOLU

HDP Bolu Province Chapter wanted to put up banners in front of the offices, but the Bolu Security Department Chief said, "If you put up banners here, I will ome and detain you. I won't be responsible for what happens."

A fascist group of some 100 people gathered after this comment by the police chief and burned down the HDP banners. The attackers also prevented the district and province administrators from leaving the building.

Police did not intervene.

The Bolu Province Chapter announced that the attackers chanted pro-Erdogan and pro-government slogans and set the party banners on fire.

ANTALYA

HDP members set up a stand near the Konyaalti beach in Antalya and were attacked by a fascist group with sticks and stones. HDP members defended themselves and the group dispersed.

A window was broken on the announcement vehicle and a HDP member was injured on his foot.

Meanwhile, HDP announcement vehicles touring the city were subjected to verbal attacks by several fascist drivers.

HDP member Saban Senlik was detained as he filed charges against a racist group.

MANISA

HDP Manisa Province Chapter gathered by the entrance of the city with over a thousand vehicles to greet parliamentary candidate Sirri Sakik. The convoys included people from the peripheral districts of Manisa and toured the city after receiving Sakik and his companions. The HDP convoy was cut off by people in cars flashing the grey wolves sign and playing Ottoman anthems as they returned to the city after the tour to go to the Manolya Square as part of their program. The group attacked the HDP members alongside racist slogans and 2 people were lightly injured due to blows.

The group also damaged the vehicles of HDP members, continued an agressive stance and issued calls on social media and some cars to march to the HDP Province Offices.

The police didn't prevent the attack.

ANKARA

HDP Kecioren District Chapter administrators and members were attacked by a racist group as they were campaigning in the Esertepe neighborhood. HDP District Co-chair Turkan Konukcu said: "We were campaigning for the election when a racist group started to insult us. We called the police and they came, but the group continued to flash the grey wolves sign and insult us even after they arrived."

HDP members continued the campaign efforts with another vehicle, and that time they were attacked by a 15 person group who threw stones at the vehicle as the people were inside and broke its windows.

The police didn't intervene with the attackers and detained HDP member Oktay Ince who attempted to record the incident.

HDP Ankara Province Chapter was also attacked by a racist group in Konur Street where they set up a stand.

HDP members met again in front of the stand and continued the election efforts with a halay dance

ISTANBUL

HDP Umraniye District Chapter set up a stand in the Site neighborhood where they were attacked by a racist group.

The group attempted to tear down the stand and the HDP members retaliated. After a short scuffle, the racist group had to leave the area. The attackers threw stones as they were leaving and broke the windows of a party vehicle.

HATAY

HDP parliamentary candidate Hulya Kavuk and a group of members visited the people in the Dogan and Hisecik villages in Hatay's Antakya district. A fascist group attacked the parliamentary candidate and the announcement vehicle during the visit in the Kisecik village. HDP members took shelter in a cafe during the attcack but the attackers damaged the HDP announcement vehicle and threatened the HDP members.
