The Iraqi Federal Supreme Court rejected the complaint of Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani regarding the distribution of seats in the parliament.
On 6 May 2024, Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani filed an application to the Federal Court against the President of the Iraqi Independent High Electoral Commission, demanding an immediate halt to the preparations for the parliamentary elections.
In his complaint, Prime Minister Barzani drew attention to the procedures for the distribution of 100 seats in the parliament to the provinces and the removal of 11 seats allocated to constituents and minorities.
At the Federal Court meeting held today, Masrour Barzani's complaint was evaluated and rejected.
