Police forces staged a crackdown on HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party) youth who gave an iftar (fast-breaking) dinner in Çamlıkule neighborhood in Buca district of western İzmir province Sunday evening.

The HDP youth were attacked by the police with tear gas on the grounds that they chanted slogans after the iftar dinner.

14 young people were taken into custody in the crackdown and they are being held at the anti-terror branch of provincial security directorate.
