Iranian state forces detain 4 more people in East Kurdistan

Four more people, including a journalist and a teacher, were detained in East Kurdistan.

According to the Kurdistan Human Rights Association, Iranian state forces detained four people, including one teacher and one journalist, in the cities of Sine and Shino in East Kurdistan on January 30 and 31.

The journalist, Mehmud Mehmudi, was detained on 31 January and is allegedly responsible for the weekly Agrîn Roj newspaper. He was detained in the city of Sine.

On 30 January, a teacher named Eziz Qadirtac and two other people named Wahîd Şêx Mehmudî and Ferîdun Bayezîdî were detained by Iranian forces in the city of Shino.

According to the Kurdistan Human Rights Association, more than 100 people have been arrested in East Kurdistan since 8 January. Most of the arrested people are students, academics and civil society activists. The whereabouts of many of them are unknown.
