People's Defense Forces Press and Communication Centre (HPG-BIM) has released a statement on the increasingly ongoing activities of the Turkish army in North Kurdistan.

HPG-BIM said that the Turkish army continued the construction of the dam as well as recently increased military activity  in Silvan district of Amed. HGP guerrillas opened a warning fire on two armored vehicles, a truck and a minibus of the Turkish army at 5 am on April 8, the statement said, adding that the vehicles targeted were damaged in the warning action.

On the same day, the Turkish army launched an operation supported by armored vehicles at 8 am near the Boşat village. The operation which was also participated by village guards from Boşat and Bakuze villages was ended in the afternoon, HGP-BIM said.

Bombardment by Turkish army in Haftanin

HPG-BIM stated that Turkish troops carried out a bombardment from the hills of Yekmal and Sinek -which are at the border to Haftanin area of Medya Defense Zones and held by the Turkish military- at 18:00-19:30 and 20:30–21:00 on April 8. The attack with heavy artillery targeted Hill Hestîya, Hill Martyr Deniz, Hill Gömme, Hill Zeytuna, Hill Martyr Munzur, Dola Vektorya, Dola Silê, Dola Kulya and Boxaza PKK areas.

The statement noted that Turkish army also performed intense reconnaissance flights over the border line between 11pm yesterday and 5.30 am today.

Aerial activity over Zap and Avashin

According to the statement, an intense activity by Turkish warplanes and UAVs took place over Avashin area at 11:00 – 11:30, and over Zap area at 21:30 – 22:00 yesterday, and at 01:00 - 02:00 today.

Remarking that Turkish troops opened random fire with heavy weaponry from around the Mamreş hill at 16:00 – 16:30 yesterday, HPG-BIM added that the Turkish army has recently started to construct a garrison (headquarters) near the Oremar military post in Yüksekova district of Hakkari.
