People’s Defence Forces (HPG) Press Office has reported in a written statement that the military activity of the Turkish forces increasingly continues ahead of general elections to be held one week later, on 7 June.
HPG listed the Turkish military activity in North Kurdistan and the borderlines at the guerrilla controlled areas in the last days in its statement.
Accordingly, the Turkish army carried out drone activities over the below-mentioned guerrilla zones;
- Oremar area in Yüksekova district of Hakkari at between 07:30-10:30 on 31 May,
- Martyr Rahime and Şuke areas at Avaşin border line at between 21:00, 30 May and 12:00 on 1 June,
- Besta area of Şırnak at between 13:00 – 17:00 on 31 May,
An activity of Turkish war planes took place over Çîyayê Reş area of Zap region at between 10:00 – 11:00 on 31 May.
HPG further reported the operations of the Turkish army carried in North Kurdistan and around guerrilla controlled areas as follows:
-On 27 May, Turkish soldiers launched ground operation in the area between Bilinbasan and Avyan villages of Esendere town of Yüksekova district of Hakkari. The operation continues.
-On 31 May, a troop of Turkish soldiers were engaged in counter-activity in guerrilla uniforms in Çardak and Pegan villages of Başkale district of Van. The covered Turkish soldiers put pressure on the villagers in attempt of provocation.
-On 31 May, a troop of soldiers from Bestan military post in Gevaş district of Van launched a ground operation in Mount Artos and its surroundings at 11:00. The operation was ended at 16:00 the same day without results.
The HPG statement lastly reported the ambushes laid by the Turkish military forces. Accordingly,
- Turkish soldiers laid ambushes on the road to dam in Hasan Goranê village of Kop district of Van at between 21:00 – 23:00 on 31 May.
- Turkish soldiers set check points and laid ambushes on the road to the Tatan village of Varto district of Van at between 13:00-19:00 on 31 May.
