Cobra type attack helicopters of Turkish army carried out attacks on Media Defense Areas under the governance of guerrilla. In parallel with the attack, Turkish soldiers have been resettling on the hills on the border it had already evacuated formerly.
According to the statement made by HPG (People Defense Forces) Press and Communication Center (HPG-BÝM), Cobra type helicopters carried out attacks on 21 December Tuesday at morning hours between 07.00-08.00 on Haftanin and Kuraniþ villages and surroundings in Media Defense Areas.
TSK RESETTLED ON THE HILLS IT HAD EVACUATED
HPG-BÝM released that Turkish army has been resettling on the hills in connection with these attacks. Resettled hills are stated as Gire Þivan, Serbend, Vacip, Maymun and Derî Davetîya, an intense military mobilization was reported in the region.
Marking that the second attack of Turkish army was carried out at evening hours between 19.00 and 20.00 on the same regions, BÝM expressed that they don’t have any loss of lives until now.
CIVILIANS TARGETED
Turkish army is still dropping bombs almost every day despite the ceasefire declared by guerrilla and hard winter conditions. Numerous civilians lost their lives or got wounded during the attacks targeting mainly civilian settlements. In consequence of the attack carried out by Turkish army with mortar bombs and howitzers on 16 December on Haftanin area in Zaxo,Kurdistan, a 40 year-old villager named Yasin Ýsa, registered in Kerkiko village, lost his life and another civilian was wounded.
One more mortar bomb and howitzer attack was conducted on 12 September from Rubarok and Grenava stations in Hakkari border region against 2 villages within South Kurdistan borders. During the attack on Mawata and Herguþ villages in Zagros region, 4 villagers working in their gardens were wounded, 2 of them being critical. In the attacks of Turkish army on South Kurdistan, at least 3 villagers lost their lives and 12 wounded since the beginning of May.
