People’s Defence Forces (HPG) Press Office drew attention to the huge increase in the bombardments, ambushes, operations and aerial activity of the Turkish army in North Kurdistan aiming to create conflict with the guerrilla forces ahead of elections.

Providing a long list of the military activity of the Turkish forces in North Kurdistan and the border lines of the guerrilla control regions, HPG reported the aerial activity of Turkish warplanes on 27 May as follows:

- over Zagros area at between 15:30 - 16:00;

- over Avashin at between 15:30 - 18:00;

- over Metina area at between 17:00 - 18:00;

- over Zap region as well as Ertuş and Garê a Mezin areas at between 08:00 - 09:00 and 14:30 – 17:30;

- over Besta area of Şırnak starting from early morning hours on 26 May and ending at 19:00 on 27 May.

HPG further reported drone activities by the Turkish army which took place over

-Metina area at between 22:00 on 27 May and 04:00 on 28 May;

-Zap region as well Ertuş, Garê a Mezin and Şkefta Bîrîndara areas at between 18:00-21:00 on 27 May;

-Besta area of Şırnak starting from early hours on 26 May and ending at 19:00 on 27 May.

HPG reported that two groups of soldiers from Yekmal military post at the border with Heftanin area of Medya Defence Zones launched an operation at 17:30 on 27 May. While one group took position at the hillsides near Habur River, the other group deployed in the Dola Kulya area, said the HPG adding that the Turkish army is still attempting at provocation with an aim to instigate a clash with the guerrilla forces in the area.

The statement said Turkish soldiers at Gundikê Melê military post in Şırnak region carried out bombardment with mortars and heavy weaponry targeting Çiyayê Fila and Herbiş Hills from 08:00 on 27 May till noon hours on 28 May.

HPG reported another operation of the Turkish army launched by soldiers who came to Bêrik passage with armoured vehicles from Bêrik military post in Arıcak district of Elazığ at 11:00 on 27 May. Troops retreated at 12:30 while some units were concealed in the area and laid ambushes.

On the other hand, Skorsky type helicopters carried out reconnaissance flights at low level over Şehit (Martry) Brusk, Beyan, Çeşme, Uçkala, Heradan area of Farqin district of Amed and over Piran district at 16:00 on 27 May.

According to the statement, Turkish soldiers laid ambushes around Tatan village in Varto district of Muş, while putting up check points and performing ID controls on the road to the village at 20:00 on 27 May.

Again on 27 May, Turkish soldiers laid ambushes between the villages of Harçik, Çadır Kaya, Sağlam Taş and Dere Boyu in Pülümür district of Dersim at between 20:30 - 00:00.

HPG said the Turkish soldiers are laying ambushes also in Sarıkamış Forests of Kars during the past several days.

HPG lastly reported an intense activity by Sikorsky and Cobra type helicopters of the Turkish army over Ferxan area of Bingöl at between 07:00 and 12:00 on 28 May, as well as over Kızılağaç area at between 11:00 -12:00 on 27 May.
