Shengal Council: Enemies seek to resume the Halabja massacre

"The occupying forces continue to rework on the project they started in Halabja 33 years ago, said the Shengal Democratic Autonomous Council and said the people of Kurdistan should organize themselves and prevent all the attempts of the enemy.

The Shengal Democratic Autonomous Council (MXDŞ) commemorated the people who were killed in the Halabja massacre on its 33rd anniversary.

“Today is the 33rd anniversary of the bombing of the city of Halabja with chemical weapons and the killing of 5 thousand victims. As the Shengal Democratic Autonomous Council, we give all the people of Kurdistan and the families of the victims our condolences", the Council said in a written statement.

"The occupying forces continue to rework on the project they started in Halabja 33 years ago. The enemies of the Kurdish people want to resume the Halabja massacre whenever they get the chance", the statement continued.

"In this context, the people of Kurdistan should organize themselves and prevent all the attempts of the enemy.

“What was done in Halabja 33 years ago is being resumed today in Afrin, Serekaniye and was resumed 6 years ago in Shengal. Just as the people of Halabja went through the massacre, today the peoples living in the regions of Northern and Eastern Syria under the occupation of the Turkish state are facing the same atrocities. However, this happens under a different name.

We feel the pain experienced by the people of Halabja. What was done to the people of Halabja was also done against the Yazidi community in 2014."
