The Turkish state is trying to use the families of guerrilla fighters for its psychological warfare through blackmail, bribery and false promises. For example, families of guerrilla fighters have been put in front of the building of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) in Amed (tr. Diyarbakır) to demand the "return" of their sons or daughters. The group has also repeatedly attacked HDP representatives and visitors to the building. The "reclaimed" guerrilla fighters speak out clearly about the demands of the family members. This is also the case for the fighter Alîşêr Agîr Amed, whose family has also taken up residence in front of the HDP building.

"I decided to take up arms to fight against persecution and injustice"

"I joined the guerrillas in 2015," tells the guerrilla fighter and continues; "When I got to know my country and my people, when I found out what rule they were under, after seeing and learning about the slavery and genocide imposed on the Kurdish people, I joined the party. When I got to know the enemy and understood the fascism with which the Turkish state is trying to dominate our people, great hatred and anger developed in me. I decided to take up arms to fight against this persecution and injustice. On this basis, I joined the party.

"I will fight against the Turkish state until my last breath"

Rêber Apo (Leader Öcalan) has awakened us Kurds from the sleep we have been in for centuries. He showed us the real life and the right way. So, as a young Kurd, moved by the ideas of Öcalan, I joined the guerrillas. This is one of the most important factors that led to my participation in the struggle. Now, as a guerrilla fighter and PKK cadre, I participate in our legitimate struggle against the Turkish state. I will fight until my last breath and the last drop of my blood against the enemy, Turkish colonialism and fascism.

"Our families and our people should not fall for the state"

The enemy army has no will to fight anymore. We can say with certainty that their will and determination to fight is broken. The results of the attack on Gare have illustrated this reality very well. The Turkish state is trying to influence public perception in Kurdish and Turkish society by knowingly sending its soldiers to their deaths with adventurous initiatives. The sole purpose is to deceive the public. The regime intends to create a wave of nationalism with its war against us. But the regime's war is based solely on lies.

"The families should fight against the state instead"

The regime has deceived our families and brought them in front of the HDP building in a 'vigil for the children'. Both our people and our families should be vigilant in this regard. We are waging a war against the enemy and following our legitimate cause. Our struggle against the Turkish state is completely justified. If our families fall for the enemy and side with them and call on us to deviate from our path, it is a grave mistake because they are betraying their children. This must be clear to all of them. It is necessary to analyze and understand the Turkish state well. No one should be fooled by exploiting the emotionality of families here and agitating with it. The families sitting in front of the HDP should instead fight against the state. This is the morally and humanly right thing to do. Reclaiming the children is not right. It's up to our families to stand by their children and fight against this enemy.

"They should not disregard or underestimate our will"

I learned from the press that my family also went in front of the HDP building. We ask our families to support our just cause. We joined the party out of our own free will. We chose guerrilla life out of our own will. You should not disregard or underestimate our will. The Turkish state is pretending that we were deceived and that is why we joined the organization. It is trying to influence the social discourse in this direction. Our families may be significantly involved in this scheme of the regime, but that does not mean it is true. It only shows that they underestimate our will. We joined the guerrilla out of revolutionary feelings, out of revolutionary will. As PKK cadres, we are fighting for freedom. Our families must recognize this reality.

What I want from my own family is to turn away from this injustice. This situation is not morally or ethically acceptable to me. We are at war. If they can't do anything else, let them at least pray for us. That would be the right thing to do.

"No one will turn us from our path"

The HDP is a party within the Turkish state system. It seeks to defend the rights of the Kurdish and Turkish peoples through a democratic political struggle. We have nothing to do with the HDP. One thing must be clear: Neither the HDP nor any other force can take us to the mountains or bring us down from these mountains. Everyone should know this truth. There is no force that can take us away from our cause and the revolution. Families should accept this reality. If they can fight, if they stand with us and do what is necessary, we will liberate our country, and then all families will be reunited with their children forever. Today we are in our own country, in our own mountains. Our mountains are like our mothers. The mountains protect us like a mother and preserve us. We fight without fear or hesitation with a calm mind. So may all our mothers and families live in peace and not worry. If they cannot do anything for us, let them at least pray."
