Members of the Shengal Autonomous Administration and People's Municipality attended an event in the Xanesor (Khanasor) town to celebrate International Workers’ Day. Masses saluted the struggle against the exploitation of workers.

The press statement read by Sîba Şêx Xidir Municipality Co-Mayor Elmas Nayîf pointed out that sovereign systems enslave workers and weaken society.

Nayîf stated that the Yazidi people have lived by their own labor throughout history and that today's economic and moral struggle is a continuation of this tradition.

The statement referred to Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan’s remarks “Labor is freedom” and his February 27 ‘Call for Peace and Democratic Society’, calling it “an important opportunity for workers”.

The celebration ended with a message of solidarity to laborers all over the world.
