In a statement, the signatories said the following:
"We are living through a historic process in which a new world system is being shaped.
Following World War I, the foundation of that world system was laid through the creation of nation-states in the Middle East and the division of Kurdistan. A century later, that system - built on occupation and denial - is dissolving. What has brought about this transformation is the unyielding freedom struggle of our people, who for over a hundred years have resisted occupation and genocide across all four parts of Kurdistan.
Through unwavering commitment and immense sacrifice, the Kurdish people have challenged and disrupted the genocidal and occupying order. Yet, in this crucial historical moment, we face both grave dangers and immense opportunities for freedom.
During World War I, like many other nations, the Kurdish people were promised statehood. Maps were drawn. But due to the lack of unity among Kurdish leaders, who remained confined to their own regions, these promises were never realized. The result was the fragmentation of Kurdistan and its erasure through the Treaty of Lausanne. Today, if we are to succeed where we once failed, national unity is not optional - it is essential. Without it, the Kurdish people will not forgive any political force.
For us Kurdish women, national unity is synonymous with freedom and dignity. The occupation of Kurdistan means the occupation of women's bodies. For a hundred years, Kurdish women have lived under brutal colonialism, experiencing rape, massacre, abduction, and dehumanization. Colonialism is fundamentally a women's issue, and the first condition for women's liberation is the end of occupation. National division enables occupation to persist, and therefore, national unity is a matter of honor for Kurdish women.
The only path to eradicating the violence and enslavement of women in Kurdistan is through unity and collective struggle. For us, national unity is the women's struggle for freedom.
With this understanding, we - representatives of 21 women’s organizations and political parties from all four parts of Kurdistan - have come together under the name "Kurdish Women's National Unity Conference" to advance and build national unity.
Our discussions and decisions include:
- National unity must not be seen as a narrow alliance between political parties, but developed through democratic organization and democratic political unity.
- National unity should encompass all dimensions of life: social, economic, political, cultural, educational, legal, municipal, parliamentary, and beyond.
- A Kurdish Women’s Festival should be held annually in a different part of Kurdistan.
- A joint support network must be established for children affected by war and poverty across Kurdistan.
- A National Kurdish Women’s Conference should be convened in the near future.
- We will organize ourselves as the Kurdish Women’s Unity Platform to implement these decisions.
Our call to all Kurdish women is this:
We invite all women’s political representatives, women’s movements, and organizations in Kurdistan and the diaspora to join this platform. Let us build national unity together, grounded in love for freedom, the consciousness of equality, and the sacred duty of patriotism. No struggle or political effort can succeed in Kurdistan without national unity. History has placed before us a decisive test. Kurdish women - and the Kurdish people - must pass this test. If we remain divided, we risk losing everything. But if we unite, a free Kurdistan and the freedom of Kurdish women will rise like the sun over our land. Let us raise that sun together.
Our call to all political parties and organizations in Kurdistan is this:
National unity is the path to Kurdish democracy. Division is the result of a failure to develop the democratic will of the Kurdish people. Unity means bringing together diverse voices to identify common problems and shape common solutions. Now is the time to realize the common mind and collective will of the Kurdish people. Let the fate of our people no longer be suffering and oppression born from division. We call on all to act with virtue, to make sacrifices, to stand closer to one another, and to prioritize national unity above all.
As free Kurdish women and men, like all free peoples, we deserve to live with freedom, dignity, equality, and unity.”
