On April 14, the Military Operations Teams (TOL) of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) conducted a precise security operation with the support of the International Coalition Forces. The operation targeted a terrorist SIS cell operating inside Raqqa.
After gathering comprehensive intelligence regarding the cell’s movements and activities, SDF forces located the group, which had been using a house in Raqqa as a base for coordination and the assignment of terrorist tasks. SDF forces raided the place and succeeded in capturing the cell leader “the emir,” Abdul Eid (alias “Abu Zahra”), along with four other terrorists: Hussein Muhammad (aka “Abu Moaz”), Abdul Yusuf (aka “Abu Hadi”), Jasim Saleh (aka “Shamri”) and Hamad al-Khalaf (aka “Osama” and “Abu Omar”).
In a statement about the operation, the SDF Press Center said that the cell had been actively receiving ISIS operatives from abroad and distributing them among various ISIS cells. It was also working to secure weapons, explosives, and logistical support in preparation for a planned attack on the Raqqa prison, which houses numerous ISIS detainees. However, the dismantling of the terrorist cell has successfully thwarted this imminent threat.
“Our forces reaffirm their unwavering commitment to continuing security and military operations aimed at dismantling the foundations of the terrorist organization and eliminating its material and ideological resources. ISIS continues to pose a significant threat, necessitating robust international and regional cooperation. The terrorist organization thrives in environments marked by instability and lawlessness, further exploiting the situation of chaos and instability in Syria,” said the SDF statement.
