The event “Two Voices, One Memory” will explore memory, diaspora, and peace through the legacies of Musa Anter and Hrant Dink.
The event titled “Musa Anter – Hrant Dink: Two Voices, One Memory” will be held in the city of Heidelberg from 17 to 19 July 2025.
The program not only recalls the traces of the past but also brings to the agenda the themes of peace, freedom of expression, and a shared vision for the future.
Focusing on the legacy of the struggle of Kurdish journalist and writer Musa Anter and Armenian journalist and publisher Hrant Dink, the event aims to open an artistic and intellectual space for suppressed memories in Turkey, diaspora narratives, and efforts toward peace.
The event has been prepared collectively by a multidisciplinary team under the curatorship of Hogir Ar.
Its purpose is to make visible once again the grounds of dialogue and solidarity embedded in the shared memory of Kurdish and Armenian communities by following in the footsteps of Anter and Dink.
The program underlines that a peace process cannot be reduced solely to disarmament; it must also include justice, truth, and social repair. It draws attention to the crucial role of art in such sensitive processes, particularly in fostering confrontation, constructing collective memory, and helping to materialize a culture of peace.
As part of the event, the exhibition titled “Forms of Memory” by Hogir Ar will explore themes such as memory, space, and resistance through sculpture, video, and installation works.
In addition, journalists, academics, and artists from Turkey, Kurdistan, Armenia, and the diaspora will come together to share their perspectives in a series of panel discussions. The program will also be open to online participation.
The event not only highlights the pains of the past but also points to the possibility of building a shared future grounded in truth, resistance, and dialogue.
