KDP delivers intensive military shipment to Rojava border

KDP forces are delivering intensive military shipments to the Rojava border and heavy weapons have been positioned.

After Kurdistan Regional Government President Nechirvan Barzani's visit to Ankara on September 4, the ruling Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) built police stations and observation points along the Rojava border and positioned many KDP forces in the region.

KDP forces have been delivering intensive military shipments and digging trenches on the Rojava border for the past week.

These shipments arrived after the Turkish state carried out attacks against the region and Prime Minister Masrour Barzani made statements targeting the YPG (People’s Defense Units) in Rojava, northern Syria, that led the self-sacrificing struggle and victory against ISIS to clear the region from the reign of the jihadist terror sponsored by the Turkish state.

Last week, KDP's troop deployments were expanded once again and new positions were built. Meanwhile, similar to the Medya Defense Zones, the KDP appears to be looking for a cause for war here as well. The KDP has long wanted to expand its sphere of influence to Rojava in cooperation with Turkey.

Most recently, on Wednesday, the KDP spread the false report that the YPG were attacking the peshmerga on the border with southern Kurdistan. These claims by Deputy Peshmerga Minister Serbest Lezgin were rejected by the YPG.
