Iraqi Supreme Electoral Commission asks Kurdistan Region government for new elections date

The Iraqi Supreme Electoral Commission asked the Kurdistan Region government to set a new date for parliamentary elections.

Iraqi Supreme Electoral Commission Spokesperson Cumana Galayi made a statement and said that the commission requested the Kurdistan Region government to set a new date for the Kurdistan Region Parliament elections.

In 2022, the date for the Kurdistan Region parliamentary elections was determined 4 times, and all the decisions were signed by the interim President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani. However, none of the decisions were adhered to.

The elections were postponed once again with the announcement made on 12 May.
