HPG reports YJA Star action in Heftanin: One soldier killed

Guerrillas continue inflicting blows on the occupant Turkish army in Kurdistan territory.

The Press Office of People’s Defense Forces (HPG-BIM) released a statement announcing the results of an action carried out by guerrillas against Turkish troops in Heftanin region of Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan, northern Iraq.

According to the statement, Women's Guerrilla Troops (YJA-Star) hit Turkish soldiers on April 11 as part of the ‘Battle of Heftanin Campaign’ ongoing in the region. YJA-Star guerrillas targeted the positions on the Turkish soldiers stationed on Hill Partîzan and struck from two sides. A reconnaissance radar system of the Turkish army was also destroyed during the action.

The HPG also reported further air attacks by the Turkish army on the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in Southern Kurdistan. Accordingly, Turkish jets shelled the Bektorya area in Heftanin region on April 9. The bombardment did not result in any casualties among guerrillas.
