HPG reports Turkish attacks with phosphorus bombs and banned weapons

HPG reported that the occupying Turkish army attacked guerrilla areas 10 times with phosphorus bombs and banned weapons

The People's Defence Forces (HPG) reported renewed use of banned weapons by the Turkish army against the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).

According to the HPG Press Center statement on Thursday, the Turkish army has once again used phosphorus bombs and banned weapons. Within a few days, the HPG recorded 1145 ground and air attacks on guerrilla areas.

HPG listed the details of the latest attacks by the Turkish army and interventions by the guerrillas as follows:

"Turkish attacks by fighter jets:

On March 17 and 18, Turkish warplanes carried out a total of 14 strikes, targeting the areas of Berê Zînê, Şehîd Şerîf, Goşînê Resistance in Xakurkê region 3 times; the areas of Girê Reşîd, Dêreşê, Heftebax, Deşta Kafya, Mêranê, Girê Mesken in Garê region 6 times; the areas of Girê Amediyê, Girê Bahar Resistance Areas in Şehîd Delîl Western Zap region 5 times.

On March 17 and 18, the areas of Girê Cûdî and Girê Bahar in Şehîd Delîl Western Zap region were bombed 4 times by attack helicopters.

Turkish attacks with heavy weapons, artillery and howitzers:

On March 17, 18, 19 and 20, the Turkish army carried out a total of 1127 attacks with heavy weapons, artillery and howitzers, targeting the areas of Berê Zînê, Kendekola, Lolan, Goşînê, Şehîd Şerîf in Xakurkê region 97 times; the areas of Heftebax, Mijê, Girgaşê, Dêreşê, Zêvkê, Girê Zengil, Girê Kun in Garê region 53 times; the areas of Şêlazê, Serê Metîna, Bêşîlî in Metîna region 170 times; the areas of Girê Cûdî, Girê Amediyê, Girê Bahar in Şehîd Delîl Western Zap region 807 times.

Our forces’ intervention against the attacks;

On March 17 at 08:45, our forces intervened with medium-automatic and heavy weapons against the invaders who advanced on and attacked our war tunnels in Girê Cûdî Resistance Area. As a result of the intervention by our forces, the invaders were forced to retreat.”
