HPG reports Turkish air attacks on Medya Defense Zones

HPG announced continued actions by guerrillas against the Turkish army in North Kurdistan and air attacks by the Turkish army against guerrillas in South Kurdistan.

The daily statement published by the Press Office of People’s Defense Forces (HPG-BIM) about guerrilla actions and Turkish military attacks reads as follows;

“Within the scope of the Martyr Pîroz and Martyr Agirî Revolutionary Campaign, on July 10, at 09.00, our YJA Star forces carried out an action against the Girê outpost in Hakkari’s Çelê (Çukurca) district.

The number of dead and wounded soldiers in this action where the positions and shelters in the enemy compound were hit effectively could not be determined. Within the scope of the revolutionary campaign, on the same day at 18.30, our forces carried out an assassination action against the invading Turkish army positioned on the Lelîkan hill in the Bradost region of Southern Kurdistan’s Sidakan. One enemy soldier was killed in this action.

On July 9, the invading Turkish army launched an operation in the area between the village of Haruna in Şemzînan (Şemdinli) district and the Radyolog area in Gever (Yüksekova) district with the participation of village guards from Haruna and Gûndê Dê villages. This operation was withdrawn without any results on the same day.

The warplanes of the invading Turkish army have carried out air strikes against the Medya Defence Zones. The details of the air attacks carried out within this scope are as following;

On July 10, between 20.00 and 22.00, warplanes bombed the surroundings of Gûndê Gırava, Kortek, Orta Alan, Bolê village, the slopes of Hiva hill and the Gûndê Sılê areas, the Dola Konferansê and Werxelê areas in the Avashin region, the Çemço, Kunişka and Gundê Fılleha areas in the Zap region, the Dola Kêstê area in the Metina region, and lastly the Martyr Beritan, Aşutê valley and Kelaşin areas in the Xakurke region.

Again, on July 9, at 19.30, warplanes bombed the Dola Nêrgê and Alantus areas in the Zagros region.

For some time, a group of contras dressed in the military clothing of our guerrilla units are pressuring the villages in the Kırk Merdiven area of Dersim’s Ovacık district. Our people in the area should be cautious against this group leading contra activities.”
