HPG reports continued airstrikes and deliberate attacks on civilian areas

The Turkish state bombed the Medya Defense Zones and intentionally attacked civilian residential areas in Southern Kurdistan (Northern Iraq), reported the HPG.

The Press Office of the People's Defense Forces (HPG) has issued a statement on the airstrikes of the Turkish army on the guerrilla areas in Southern Kurdistan.

"In our statement dated January 24, 2021, we stated that the areas of Hecî Umran and Berdesor in Xakurke were bombed by fighter jets on January 22. Our comrade Amed Dorşîn was killed in the air strike. At the same time, the village of Azadî in Hecî Umran was bombed by fighter jets. Residential buildings were damaged and animals killed. There is no base of our forces at the site of this attack or in the surrounding area. The attack was deliberately directed against the population of the region."

Sound-sensitive devices discovered in Gare

"Our forces encountered balloon-borne sound-sensitive devices near the village of Çemrobotkî in the Meyrokê area of Gare at 2:10 p.m. on January 29. After destroying these devices, our forces withdrew from the area. Subsequently, the Turkish occupying state bombed the area with fighter jets."

Regarding other airstrikes carried out by the Turkish army, the HPG said that on January 26, the areas of Werxelê and Sîda in the Zap region were bombed. On January 29, the Karker and Sîda areas in Zap were again attacked from the air, while another airstrike targeted Werxelê in the Avashin region.
