HPG: Eight soldiers killed, one guerrilla martyred in Çarçela

HPG/YJA Star guerrillas inflicted heavy blows against the Turkish troops that started an operation in Çarçela area. Eight soldiers were killed and one guerrilla fell a martyr during clashes.

HPG (People's Defense Forces) Press Office released a statement about the Turkish army operation in Çarçela in Medya Defense Zones.

The statement said that on March 25, at 07.30 am, unmanned aerial vehicles, Sikorsky and Cobra type helicopter activity took place on the Hill Bayê area between Hakkari's Gever (Yüksekova) district and the Çarçela area.

Guerrillas hit a Sikorsky helicopter airdropping soldiers on Bayê hill with heavy weapons. Again, at 10.00, the Turkish army carried out air-drop on the Mergan and Martyr Fikret hills.

The Turkish military unit trying to airlift soldiers on the Martyr Roni hill was shot with heavy weapons and 1 soldier was killed, 2 soldiers were wounded here.

At the same day at 17.30, the Turkish army tried to airdrop soldiers on Bayê hill once again, and had to retreat before the helicopters could complete the mission after the response of HPG forces with heavy weapons.

HPG stated that at 18:40 guerrillas infiltrated into the position of soldiers airdropped on Bayê hill. Guerrillas effectively hit and destroyed two positions here, as result of which six soldiers were killed. HPG guerrilla Bahoz Amed fell a martyr whilst putting up a brave fight.

According to the statement, guerrillas hit with heavy weaponry the Turkish forces that were trying to make deployments on Martyr Rojin and Merga hills at 06.00 in the morning of March 26 (today). One soldier was killed and two others were wounded here.

HPG added that ID details of the fallen guerrilla Bahoz Amed will be announced later on.

In another action, guerrillas hit the Şkêr outpost in Hakkari's Çelê (Çukurca) district at 14.30 on March 25. The number of soldiers killed or wounded here couldn't be clarified.

HPG stated that guerrillas hit with heavy weapons the Turkish aircraft flying over the Avashin area of Medya Defense Zones at 15:00 on March 25, adding that the results of these strikes couldn't be clarified.
