HPG: 20 Turkish soldiers killed in Yüksekova

HPG announced that at least 20 soldiers of the Turkish army were killed as a result of guerrilla action that targeted a Turkish military convoy in Yüksekova, Hakkari on June 2.

The Press Office of People’s Defense Forces (HPG-BIM) announced the results of guerrilla action that targeted a Turkish military convoy in Yüksekova district of Hakkari on June 2.

The related statement by HPG-BIM gave the following details regarding the action;

"Within the scope of the Martyr Pîroz and Martyr Agirî Revolutionary Campaign, on July 2, at 00.10, our forces targeted a convoy of the invading Turkish army in the Geliyê Doski area while it was heading towards the Gever district centre from the Oremar area in Hakkari’s Gever (Yüksekova) district.

Two Kirpi-type vehicles were destroyed in this action where all the vehicles in the convoy were put under intense fire, and one of the cars were heavily struck. 20 enemy soldiers were identified killed in this action. Following the action, the invading Turkish army indiscriminately fired at the surrounding areas with heavy weapons.

On the other hand -HPG reported- the invading Turkish army’s warplanes carried out air attacks against the Medya Defence Zones on July 1st and 2nd. Within this scope;

On June 1, at 02.00, warplanes bombed the Small Cilo area in the Zap region.

On June 2, at 02.00, warplanes bombed the Dola Şive area in the Avashin region, and the Hakkari hill in the Metina region at 13.00 hours.

On the same day, at 12.00, warplanes bombed the Gundikremo territory in the Cudi area of Şırnak province."
