Kurdish Red Crescent Heyva Sor a Kurdistanê has issued a call to businesspeople and the people of Kurdistan for solidarity with the Kurdish people affected by the earthquake in Southern and Eastern Kurdistan.

"WE HAVE BEEN ACTIVE FROM THE FIRST HOURS"

The written statement issued by Heyva Sor a Kurdistanê on the matter is as follows:

“An earthquake of 7.3 magnitude took place in Eastern and Southern Kurdistan in the evening hours of November 12. The epicenter of the earthquake was Kirmanshan in Eastern Kurdistan and Halabja in Southern Kurdistan.  

Hundreds of people have lost their lives in Kirmanshan and some 3 thousand people have been injured. Many houses were also damaged or completely destroyed.

Meanwhile in Southern Kurdistan, the earthquake affected Halabja and Darbandikhan the worst. Many people lost their lives or were injured in these areas.

As a humanitarian aid organisation, the Heyva Sor a Kurdistanê has been active since the first hours of the earthquake.

As such, our efforts for tents, blankets and vital needs have started.

Due to the conditions of transportation, Heyva Sor a Kurdistanê will only be accepting monetary aid in fulfilling the needs of the people.

In this regard, we are calling on all business people and the people of Kurdistan in Europe for solidarity with our people in Southern and Eastern Kurdistan.”
