Guerrillas hit Turkish soldiers in Gever and Çelê

HPG/YJA Star guerrillas carried out actions targeting Turkish soldiers in the countryside of Hakkari's Gever (Yüksekova) and Çelê (Cukurca) districts.

HPG (People's Defense Forces) Press Office released a statement detailing the most recent actions carried out by guerrillas against Turkish targets in North Kurdistan, and continued attacks of Turkish aircraft on PKK-held Medya Defense Zones in South Kurdistan.

ACTIONS IN GEVER AND ÇELÊ

According to the HPG statement, Sikorsky helicopters of the Turkish army airdropped soldiers on Leylek hill in Hakkari's Gever (Yüksekova) district at 13:30 on April 6. The soldiers on the hill were hit by guerrillas at 14:30 in the afternoon. While the number of soldiers killed or wounded here couldn't be clarified, Turkish troops at Sivri hill outpost shelled Hill Sor and sidehills following the action by guerrillas.

In the afternoon of April 6, YJA-Star (Free Women's Troops) guerrillas carried out an action targeting the Serêsevê outpost in Çelê (Çukurca) district of Hakkari. While guerrillas hit the outpost building with RPG-7 weapons, the number of soldiers killed or wounded here couldn't be clarified. Following the action, the area of Çiyayê Reş was bombed by Turkish forces with howitzer and mortar fire.

OPERATION IN DERSİM

At 06:30 in the morning of April 3, Turkish army started an operation after airdropping soldiers in the area of Deşt, Sıbirya, Vartinik and Great Zel hills. The operation was retreated inconclusively at 18:30 the same day.

AIRSTRIKES ON MEDYA DEFENSE ZONES

HPG statement continued, reporting continued bombardments by Turkish aircraft on Medya Defense Zones in South Kurdistan territory. Accordingly, Turkish warplanes shelled the Elireşê village in Qandil region at between 11.00 – 12.30 on April 6, as well as Mervanos and Şukê hamlets in Avashin region at 14:00 the same day.

HPG added that contact has been lost with two guerrillas during the bombardments.
