Gorran refutes reports of a call for military intervention

Gorran Movement MP Bêstûn Fayîq: “We didn’t ask for a military intervention by Iraqi Central Government against the Kurdistan region.”

Gorran Movement MP Bêstûn Fayîq spoke to ANF about allegations spread by some sources that the party has demanded a military intervention from Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi against Southern Kurdistan region amid ongoing mass anti-government protests.

Bêstûn Fayîq refuted the allegations and said;

“Some local websites are releasing statements on our behalf but it should be known that we did not make such a statement. Peshmerga and asayish (public security) are the forces protecting Kurdistan region. We cannot accept any force other than these.”
