Funerals of Kurdish guerrillas joined by hundreds

Funerals have taken place of Friday of four People's Defense Force guerrillas. Azad Hadi Eryýlmaz (Rauf Resul Amed), Renas Tekin (Renas), Hakan Özdemir (Rezan) and Cahit Güneþ (Yýlmaz), who lost their life in a gunfight in the Ilýcalar Town of Bingöl on February 9, were laid to rest in their birth place.

Eryýlmaz and Tekin's funeral in Diyarbakýr was attended by thousands, including Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Diyarbakýr MP Nursel Aydoðan, BDP Diyarbakýr Branch Chair Zübeyde Zümrüt and the Mesopotamian Association of Help and Solidarity with Families of Missing Persons (MEYA-DER) executives.

BDP Diyarbakýr MP Nursel Aydoðan said the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) government and the Turkish state were responsible of the deaths of Kurdish and Turkish youngsters. Aydoðan also noted that the Kurdish people will never give up the fight for their rights.

The funeral of Özdemir and Güneþ was held in Siirt and joined by hundreds, including BDP Bitlis MP Hüsamettin Zenderlioðlu, BDP Siirt Branch Co-Chair Serecaddin Kayaran and Siirt Mayor Selim Sadak. The police who tried to prevent the two bodies from being buried next to each other were later persuaded by Zenderlioðlu. The police also seized the red, green and yellow flags and photographs of the HPG members.
