The construction of the dam in Silvan had been stopped after warnings from the HPG, but was started again a while ago. The explosion split the 15m long culvert into two.
Following the explosion, the Turkish army deployed reinforcements to the area and launched an operation. The operations are reported to have intensified in the area around the villages of Boyunlu and Bayrampasa near the Silvan dam.
While the operation continues, new construction materials have been carried to the dam area accompanied by armoured vehicles.
Meanwhile, police set up a check point on the road to the dam area by deploying armoured vehicles.
