The protest march against the arrests of 11 people in Hakkari was attacked by police with gas bombs. Hit with a gas bomb on the head, one person has been seriously wounded.
Following the arrests of 10 BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) members and a Dicle News Agency reporter Hamdiye Çiftçi; demonstrators stayed for two days in front of Hakkari Courthouse before going to BDP building.
Speaking to the people, BDP Hakkari MP Hamit Geylani stated that the arrests are an injustice and added; “Even a person’s call to his friend is considered a crime in this country."
Following the short statement, the mass scattered around in Pehlivan, Baðlar and Keklikpýnar districts and started to protest against the arrests. The mass was then attacked by security forces and plainclothes policemen with gas bombs. Armored vehicles called scorpion and tanks were called in. Young demonstrators responded to police with stones and made barricades on the ways. A young person C.A was injured with a hit of a gas bomb on the head. Taken to emergency service by people around, C.A. is reported to be in critical condition.
