Body of American YPG fighter Paolo Todd sent to South Kurdistan

The body of American YPG fighter Paolo Todd who died during the Raqqa operation in January, has been sent to South Kurdistan from where it will be sent to the US.

A funeral ceremony was held for Paolo Todd (Kawa Amed), American YPG fighter who had died during the Operation Wrath of Euphrates on January 15, in Dêrik and Girkê Legê with the participation of Northern Syria Democratic Federation Co-president Mersur al-Selum, representatives of Kurdish parties and non-governmental organizations, and hundreds of civilians.

Hundreds gathered in front of Dêrik hospital and received the body of internationalist fighter Paolo Todd. Participants of the funeral ceremony accompanied Todd to the Sêmalka border gate, carrying posters of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and martyrs amid intense interest from residents of the region.

During a military ceremony at Sêmalka, YPG Command Council Member Nihyedin Xêrkî, commander Egid Melahir on behalf of international fighters, and Northern Syria Democratic Federation Co-president Mersur al-Selum addressed the participants of the ceremony that bid farewell to the internationalist fighter who fought and fell in the battle waged against the ISIS in Rojava. Speakers offered their condolences to Todd's family and drew attention to the joint struggle of peoples in Rojava revolution which they described as the revolution of all peoples.

After the ceremony, people carried Todd's coffin on their shoulders to South Kurdistan. Todd's body will be delivered to the US Embassy in South Kurdistan and later sent to the US.

American YPG fighter Paolo Todd (Kawa Amed) lost his life during Operation Wrath of Euphrates on January 15 in the village of Siwêdiya Biçûk to the north of Raqqa.
