Bakurê Kurdistan Council visits human shield initiative in Qandil

The Council called on unity of all people to defend Qandil from Turkish invasion.

Bakurê (Northern) Kurdistan Council visited the activists of the human shield initiative in Qandil.

In the speeches delivered on the occasion, it was called for unity to defend Qandil and condemn Turkish President Erdogan.

Reactions and actions against the threats made by the Turkish state to attack and occupy Bashur (South) Kurdistan, are growing by the way in all four parts of Kurdistan and among society.

The Patriotic Youth Movement and the Young Women's Movement are supporting the human shield initiative launched on 8 June in Qandil.

The Bakur Council, on Friday, set off from Sulaymaniyah directed to Qandil to support the human shield initiative.

Welat Cengiz, spokesperson of the Patriotic Youth Movement, informed the Bakur Council about the activities that have taken place in the last eight days.

Cengiz said that Erdogan was in a rage mood and every other day is threatening with attacking and occupying this or that part of Kurdistan.

Underlining the special meaning attached to Qandil, Cengiz said: “Qandil is where mountains and stones are impregnated with Kurdish blood, which is why we started our human shield action here”.

After the speech by Welat Cengiz it was the representative of Bakur Council who made a statement.

Salih Baykan, a member of the council said: “The Turkish state has been spilling poison everywhere in the Middle East like a wounded snake. Erdogan - he added - tried to actually establish and reaffirm his presence through the absence of the Kurdish people. But all the Kurdish people will stand up against Erdogan-Bahçeli fascism”.

Nowhere, said Baykan “should we remain silent against these occupation attacks. The Kurdistan Region and the Iraqi governments should not be silent on this issue and counter the unlawful claims by the Turkish state”.

Baykan ended by calling on “everyone to support the resistance of the people of Qandil. Qandil - he said - is the honour and pride of everyone. All Kurdish defense and political forces should unite and join the resistance in Qandil”.
