Armored vehicle kills 55-year-old woman in Bitlis

An armored vehicle ran over a 55 years old woman in Hizan district of Bitlis.

55 years old Gülten Yaraşlı was ran over by an armored vehicle of Turkish security forces on Hizan-Tatvan while on the way to visit her father in Gökçimen neighbourhood, 5 km from Hizan district of Bitlis.

Following the incident which took place in the morning of October 19, the woman was taken to Hizan Public Hospital.

After emergency treatment here, the woman was referred to Tatvan District Public Hospital. Accompanied by her handicapped husband, the woman fell off the stretcher three times due to lack of attention by the medical team during her transfer in an ambulance.

The woman lost her life shortly after, and was buried in Gayda Cemetery Friday evening.

Police officers, soldiers and village guards have been endowed with full authority to kill, especially after the declaration of the State of Emergency, by the AKP government and they are recklessly killing people in Northern Kurdistan. Since last year, armored vehicles running over and killing civilians on the streets and the highways have occurred with increased frequency.

In many of these incidents, the state forces don’t even feel the need to stop and look at what happened. They are never arrested, they are never indicted. They are never even asked to give statements. In executions by armored vehicles, evidence is either tampered with in favor of the murderers or outright destroyed.
