Actions by guerrillas leave at least 8 soldiers dead

At least 8 soldiers of the Turkish army were killed as result of actions carried out by guerrillas in Amed, Çukurca and Uludere, North Kurdistan.

HPG Press Centre provided information regarding the ongoing actions carried out by HPG (People's Defense Forces) and YJA-Star (Free Women's Troops) guerrillas in Amed, Çukurca and Uludere, North Kurdistan.

AMED

According to the statement, guerrillas hit the Turkish soldiers newly stationed on two hills in the countryside of Amed's Piran (Dicle) district at 08:45 on April 21.

Guerrillas targeted a Turkish military unit going downhill in two vehicles, hitting them at close range with RPG-7 and BKC machine guns. Guerrillas also hit a unit of 6 soldiers that got off their vehicles, and all the 6 soldiers were killed as result of strikes with RPG-7 weapons.

Casualties were retrieved from the scene with several ambulances dispatched to the scene following the action which was carried out in memory of the guerrillas martyred in Amed.

ÇUKURCA

At 18:30 on April 20, guerrillas hit the soldiers stationed on Koordine hill on the border of Hakkari's Çelê (Çukurca) district. Two tents and one emplacement on the hill were destroyed and two soldiers were killed.

ULUDERE

Another action by guerrillas targeted the Turkish army soldiers deployed on Kurkê Omer hill in Şırnak's Uludere (Qıleban) district at 09:30 on April 21. Results of the action will be announced once clarified.

AIRSTRIKES

HPG continued, reporting continued airstrikes by the Turkish army on guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in South Kurdistan territory. Accordingly, Turkish jets bombed;

- the hamlets of Mamreşo and Govendê in Avashin region at between 12.30 - 13.00 on April 21,

- the areas of Çiyayê Reş and Werxelê in Zap region at between 11.00 - 12.00 on April 21.
